The Sun Doesn’t Chase; It Attracts

Sunset in the distance behind pinched by two fingers

I’ve spent a lot of time in my career chasing: chasing acceptance, approval, and validation from others. I worked tirelessly to be seen and heard by decision-makers. I surrounded myself with people I thought determined my future. I traveled, attended conferences, scheduled countless coffee chats and dinners, all in hopes of being in the right rooms and having the right conversations. I wanted to make a difference, work hard, and build something meaningful.

I was strategic. I was driven. But here’s the truth: my identity and self-worth became tied to the opinions of others. And that led me to question my own decisions.

Recently, I took this picture of a beautiful sunset at Lake Conroe in Texas. As I watched the sun lower in the sky, something stood out to me. Even though it was setting, I could still feel its energy, warmth, and brightness. There was something deeply comforting about it.

The sun had spent all day pouring out energy; rays of light, warmth, and heat. Yet in that moment of stillness, it was more radiant than ever. It wasn’t trying to be the biggest or the brightest. It wasn’t competing for attention. It was simply being.

And that’s when it hit me:

The sun doesn’t chase; it attracts. There is a difference between chasing and attracting.

God used that sunset as a gentle reminder for me, and maybe for you too:

  1. Understand the difference between chasing and attracting.
  2. You’ve spent years chasing acceptance, belonging, and approval from others.
  3. You’ve built a brand full of energy and warmth that naturally draws people in.
  4. You’ve never met a stranger you wouldn’t welcome into your circle.
  5. But your gifts, your strength, and your identity are found in Me, not them.
  6. Like the setting sun, you’re in a season where you attract those who are drawn to your light—not because you’re chasing, but because you’re shining authentically.
  7. You’re exactly where I want you to be, perfectly positioned to serve others.
  8. You’re not just a brand…you’re My brand.
  9. Remember, “I called you.Isaiah 42:1–9

Stop chasing. Start shining. The right people, purpose, and opportunities will be drawn to your light.
