The 4 P’s That Give Me Power

Pause. Pray. Patience. Perseverance.

PAUSE

The best time for me to reflect is when I disconnect from distractions.

Over the past two years, I’ve been building a business, almost unknowingly. I say “unknowingly” because becoming an entrepreneur was never part of my plan. My plan was to retire as a higher education administrator. I was already enrolled in a doctoral program in Educational Leadership. But life has a way of creating moments that force us to pause. This past week, I did just that. I paused when I realized that April 7th will mark one year since I launched my own consulting company. Let me say that louder for the people in the back… my own consulting company! I never thought that would be possible because it was never part of the plan.

Since launching in April 2025, it’s been nonstop—connecting, building, creating, closing, doing. Every step has required my time, intellectual property, attention, and purpose. Honestly, it’s been excitingly exhausting. And along the way, I’ve learned to check in with myself: “Kiera… are you still having fun? Is the work still aligned with your values and beliefs?

This week, my pause looked like extending a work trip into a pause trip. I travel often for speaking engagements and conferences. Typically, it’s airport → rideshare → hotel → conference → back home. I rarely take time to experience the place I’m in. Many people see the travel and assume luxury—but they don’t always see what goes into it.

This time, I chose differently. This time, I paused on purpose.

PRAY

When I pause, I pray. Prayer is my lifeline. It is the starting point for every decision I make. There’s something powerful about removing distractions—work, noise, people—and entering a space where it’s just you and God. Some may call it meditation. Some call it centering. I call it prayer. It’s where I come face-to-face with my Creator—praising, reflecting, processing the past, and preparing for what’s ahead. It’s where I show up with humility, gratitude, and vulnerability. It’s where I’m reminded that I am nothing without Him—and everything I have is because of Him.

Praying gave me time to see the many God winks and grace hugs that have been gifted to me. It has been the people who supported me, showed up, cheered me on, and for those who trusted me with their needs.

PATIENCE

Entrepreneurship will teach you patience… whether you want to learn it or not. I’ve had to learn that the work I’m doing is bigger than me. It’s not about how much money I make, how many people book me, or who approves of me.

It’s about purpose.

Patience has taught me to navigate the “no’s,” the slow days, the low days, and even the high days with the same level of trust. Because here’s the truth: When you pause and pray, the answers don’t always come immediately. And that’s where patience is built. I’ve had to strengthen my faith—to trust that preparation is happening even when progress feels invisible. My patience is rooted in knowing that God is good, faithful, and intentional.

He wants what’s best for me. Period.

PERSEVERANCE

This is what separates good from great—and great from the G.O.A.T.s. Perseverance is staying in the game for the long haul. It’s not quitting when it gets hard. It’s not walking away after rejection. It’s not stopping just because something didn’t go your way. It’s getting back in the ring—even after taking a few hits. My perseverance has been tested. Is this business just a hobby? Something I wanted to “try”? A temporary idea?

Absolutely not.

I’ve always admired entrepreneurs—especially those I’ve watched build something from nothing into a success story. It’s one of the most honorable—and scariest—paths you can take. And I’ve realized… I’m one of them. I’m not a quitter. When I commit, I’m all in. The real question isn’t if—it’s how long. And my answer is: for as long as it takes.

PAUSE. PRAY. PATIENCE. PERSEVERANCE.

When I intentionally practice these 4 P’s, I don’t just succeed—I feel whole. That’s exactly what I experienced this past week while spending four intentional days in Key West, Florida.

Each day was filled with gratitude, grace, and what I call “God winks.”

  • I celebrated the life I’ve been blessed to live.
  • I breathed in the gifts and grace hugs I receive daily.
  • I released anything that doesn’t align with my values, beliefs, and purpose.
  • I reflected on the people in my life—those assigned to uplift, support, and walk with me in this season.

And for that, I am deeply grateful.

You Are the Brand.

How you show up—in the quiet, in the waiting, in the hard moments, and in the breakthroughs—that is your brand. Not just what you say. Not just what you do. But who you are when no one is watching.

If you’re building a business, leading a team, or navigating a season of growth, alignment matters. Your values, your faith, your discipline, and your consistency will always speak louder than your title.

Ready to elevate how you show up?

If you’re looking to:

  • Strengthen your leadership presence
  • Align your team’s values with execution
  • Build a brand rooted in authenticity, trust, and results

I’d love to partner with you.
